MAGE 1.5 (Magnified ADCC through Glycosylation Engineering) is a proprietary technology platform developed by Eureka Therapeutics for the enhancement of ADCC activity in recombinant antibodies through Fc glycosylation engineering.
Antibody cancer drugs have varying efficacy depending on a patient's genetic makeup. In the case of Herceptin (a metastatic breast cancer antibody drug), progression-free survival after four years of treatment can differ between 8% and 60%, depending on a single amino acid difference in a patient's CD16 gene product.1 Rituxan2 (an antibody treatment for non-Hodgson's Lymphoma) and Erbitux3 (an antibody treatment for colon cancer), exhibit a similar phenomenon in clinical application.
To overcome patients' individual genetic differences, personalized medicines are needed. However, the cost of research and development for personalized medicine is a significant obstacle to achieving "treatments for all."
Eureka Therapeutics has developed a new strategy for personalized medicine through the enhancement of ADCC activity for existing antibody drugs. Eureka's MAGE 1.5 ADCC enhancement platform generates improved antibody drugs that are effective for all patients, regardless of their CD16 polymorphism. MAGE 1.5 technology improves the efficacy and expands the treatable patient population for existing antibody cancer drugs.
